The Quiet Man Irish Pub is located in historic Flemington a short trot, canter or if you're desperate a gallop from Flemington Racecourse, the home of the famous "Melbourne Cup". This horse race is often referred to as "the race that stops the nation" and is recognised internationally as one of the world's major races to win.. The race is run on the first Tuesday in November. The Quiet Man is famous in Melbourne and beyond for its genuine Irish Food, Music and Ambience. The pub captures the essence of friendly Irish hospitality so typical of those pubs 'back home' in Ireland on which it is modelled. While the Quiet Man’s name has links to the 1952 film starring John Wayne and Maureen O’Hara, it is more reflective of the quintessential Quiet Man as depicted in Maurice Walsh’s “ The Quiet Man” … “he was a quiet man not given to talking about himself and the things he had done - he would laugh and have another small one from the stone jar; he was content”. You are always sure of a welcoming smile , friendly service and the lilt of the Irish brogue when you visit the Quiet Man Irish Pub. It is often referred to as " A little piece of Ireland in Melbourne" call in say hello, have a drink and enjoy a real Irish hearty meal.
